Math Help in Honolulu, HI.

As we help our children through school, it is important to identify what teaching style best suits your child.  In this post, The Tutoring Center in Honolulu will share some examples of learning styles and teaching techniques.

Visual learners

As the name suggests, visual learners retain information faster when it is presented to them visually.  If your child is a visual learner and requires math help, they may benefit from a demonstration such as watching their teacher solve a problem on the chalkboard.  Visual learners can also utilize flash cards - using them to review and visualize the teaching whilst on the go.

Auditory learners

Love to talk?  You may be an auditory learner.  Auditory learners absorb information by listening and hearing. If your child is an auditory learner and could benefit from algebra help, try reading the new math solution aloud.  This will benefit them in retaining the new information. Another idea is to listen to a short educational clip and then spend 15 minutes discussing what you each learned.  Discussion of points recently learned can help auditory learners retain information.

Kinesthetic learners

If your child tends to reach for objects when learning, they may be kinesthetic learners.  Kinesthetic learners retain information faster is they are able to physically interact with the teachings.  When providing homework help, try incorporating objects such as blocks or toys for counting and general math.

Here’s a tip - don’t be afraid to take it outdoors!  If your child is a Kinesthetic learner, touching and counting the leaves on a tree branch or rocks in a garden could boost their understanding and retention whilst enjoying the outdoors.

Every parent wants to give their child all the help they can, and identifying your child's learning technique is a great place to start.  Our experts can provide reading, writing, and math help through one-to-one instruction or private tutoring in Honolulu.
