Math Help in Honolulu, HI.

Here at The Tutoring Center in Honolulu, we understand that every child is different and that each has their own way of learning, which is why we strive to make their tutoring sessions as personalized as possible.

This is why, in this post, we’ll let you know about a few different learning styles and how you can customize your child’s studying techniques to fit each one, thus ensuring a more effective learning experience at home.

How to Adapt to Your Child’s Learning Style

Make Up a Song for Auditory Learners

Auditory learners are those who best assimilate information that’s transmitted with sound. You can identify them because they have a keen ability to remember conversations and are good with music. If your child is an auditory learner:
  • Make up a song with the concepts they should be studying.
  • If possible, record the lectures so they can hear them again when they study.

Draw a Picture with Visual Learners

Visual learners, as the names states, are those who respond to visual stimuli the most. For them, understanding color combinations, spatial arrangements, and remembering images comes easy. If you have a visual learner at home:
  • Draw a picture that depicts the lessons they’ll be tested on.
  • Use highlighters and fun colors to go over important information they should remember.

Do Experiments with Kinesthetic Learners

Last, but certainly not least, there are kinesthetic learners. They primarily use movement and their sense of touch to know more about the world around them. They are very active and enjoy practicing the things they’re learning about. For them:
  • Seek easy experiments or practice runs that relate to what they’re learning.
  • Provide tools, such as an abacus or a puzzle, for them to study.
