A Fun Science Project You Can Do at Home

As well as putting into practice what they've learned at school, science projects at home give you a chance to better understand your children's interests and also their skills. In this post, The Tutoring Center in Honolulu has a great fun way for you to experiment with science at home.

The Magic Bouncing Egg Experiment!

This is a great exercise because it demonstrates how seemingly fragile objects can be altered to do things your child may never have expected.
  • Start with some white vinegar, a boiled egg and a glass jar with a lid. Make sure that the jar is big enough so that the egg can sit comfortably in the vinegar and the lid can close tightly.
  • Take your boiled egg and gently place it into the jar, making sure not to crack the shell. If you crack the shell, you'll need to boil another egg. Fill the jar with white vinegar until the egg is completely covered, and then tighten the lid over the jar.
  • After a day you will start to notice some changes...
  • But after a week, it's time to take out the egg and give it a good rinse under the tap. Once the vinegar has been removed, dry the egg thoroughly and get ready for the fun!

Take the egg, hold it out, and do the unthinkable - drop it!
